Artist Statement:

_{This body of work explores the idea of ‘hyperreality’ and how the brain processes what we see through sculptural works based on three generations within the same family.}

_{All the works presented here use the same data but are created using different materials such as 3D printing and silicone. By repeating the same faces in a range of different materials, the works becomes simulacra through this process. This guides the viewer to move beyond simply looking at the works, potentially leading them to question what they are looking at, creating a sense of uncertainty.}

_{The use of light is a vital component within this body of work. The illuminated sculptures highlight the details from the original 3D scans, allowing an understanding of the process using material and light, guiding the viewer to move between artworks questioning what’s real, replicated or conjoined.}

_{Each individual sculpture integrates age progression and family genetics. There are areas of familiarity, yet parts remain unresolved, and perception and recognition is delayed and reconfigured. Viewers are invited into a moment between knowing and the unknown, where faces can be remembered but not fully grasped.}
